Alaina and Brandon were married on August 15th, 2015 at Perkins Chapel at SMU. A reception at Arlington Hall followed, with fireworks provided by Alaina’s grandfather, “Papa.”  J.G Bills (AKA Papa) was thrilled when the couple became engaged in August of 2014.  Several months later he received a devastating diagnosis: Stage 4 lung cancer. The very first question he asked his doctor was, “Can you get me to August?” The answer was no. Papa knew he needed to find a way to be at his beloved granddaughter’s wedding, so he arranged for a spectacular fireworks display. It was beautiful to see watch the emotion on the faces of these two families, as they thought about Papa and his gesture of love. Life carries on, and is so beautiful.
